The darkness of night provides a unique backdrop for a hiking adventure. Leave those flash lights at home and come spend the evening with a park naturalists as he/she guides you along one of the many trails at Bear Creek Lake Park and the surrounding green spaces. These hikes are for the whole family and average 1-1.5 miles. The trails are on uneven terrain and last about an hour and a half. Cast your line and reel in the big one at the Bear Creek Lake Park trout fishing tournament! The target fish for this event will be rainbow or brown trout, and the winner will be determined by weight. This is a 2-person team tournament that will take place on Bear Creek Reservoir with 25 team slots available for watercraft and 25 team slots available for shore fisherman. There will be cash prizes for first, second and third place. All boats will require a mandatory boat inspection. Check in is at 5:30 am; the tournament begins at 6:30 am.

Live birds of prey and night sky observation
Join us at the Learning Circle Amphitheater and celebrate the Summer Solstice with live birds of prey and a full moon! Hawk Quest will reveal the importance of raptors and their role in the ecosystem. After the presentation view the “Strawberry” Full Moon through telescopes and enjoy gazing into the night sky.
